Chengdu Hospital of Integrative Medicine (also known as the First People's Hospital of Chengdu) is a Grade 3A general hospital with a long history, advanced equipment and a complete range of specialties, which is featured by the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicines, and integrates clinical medical treatment, emergency care, health care, rehabilitation, teaching and scientific research into one. The hospital was founded in 1942. The hospital was founded in 1942 as Chengdu Municipal Hospital, the first municipal public hospital in Chengdu, and was named Chengdu Hospital of Integrating Traditional Chinese and Western Medicines in 1985, and was recognized as a “Level 3 Hospital of Integrating Traditional Chinese and Western Medicines” in 1995. The hospital was named “Chengdu Hospital of Integrative Medicine” in 1985, and was recognized as “Class III Grade A Hospital of Integrative Medicine” in 1995, and was awarded the title of “National Top 100 Hospitals” by the Ministry of Health and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1999.
The hospital is divided into two districts, the South District and the North District, which are located at No. 18, Wanxiang North Road, Gaoxin District, Chengdu and No. 44, Section 1, Hongxing Road, Qingyang District, Chengdu respectively. The hospital covers a total area of about 84,000 square meters (125 mu), with a building area of 210,000 square meters, an establishment of 2,400 beds, and 2,573 beds actually open. The hospital has 17 wards, 32 secondary specialties, 63 specialized outpatient clinics and 16 medical and technical departments.
